The Daily Prophet has received an owl from the Windhorse House Leader Professor Purpura. Here's an update about how Windhorse has adapted to their new, online classes, and some community service options that student in other houses could try as well:
Hogwarts is in session. This year, our magical school is held virtually. The student witches and wizards received special owl posts filled with materials for each of the classes chosen ingredients to construct a wand, and a gift from Honeydukes.
On Tuesday, August 12, 2020, we learned about ancient Egypt and modern egyptian culture from the wise and powerful Professor Sekhmet-Hetepet who lives in and communicated with us all the way from Eqypt.
With our brains full of Eqyptian knowledge, we ventured to Hogwarts in Minecraft. Tech-support Ethan created treasure chests with quests for each house. Some students are more knowledgeable about Minecraft and helped other students who are learning minecraft.
The Windhorse House is researching service projects, and have narrowed down the list to:
+ Collecting food from our neighborhood and donate it to a local food pantry
+ Making cards and pictures and deliver to a local assisted living or nursing home
+ With gloves and plastic bags, picking up trash at a public space like a park
+ Ask an elderly neighbor if they need help with yard work
+ Online volunteering that adults in our lives can accomplish: https://www.dosomething.org/us/articles/9-places-to-volunteer-online-and-make-a-real-impact
Our hearts are in the right place to do good in the world.
Our minds are in the right place to learn in all our magical classes. Students and professors enjoyed their classes in Potions, Incantations, Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Ancient Runes, and Art. We are learning so many amazing things together, yet apart.
